ChangeWhat is change?
Change is when something evolves, or becomes different from what we know it as. Change happens all the time, everywhere, on the internet, in real life. Change always happens, it always has, and it always will.
Recently, DeviantART has gone through change, the website upgraded from version six to version seven. With all version releases, there will be bugs, but most of all, there will be unhappy deviants. This is to be expected with every bit of change that happens. There is no way to please every one person with this change, but one thing remains certain.
DeviantART v7 is here, and it is here to stay. No matter how many times you say "Change it back" version six will not come back.
So with all of this talk of "change," I have been thinking a lot lately, The United States of America went through change, wasn't President Barack Obama's presidential campaign slogan "Change We Can Believe In?" When President Obama was elected, the United States changed the way it ran. For t
SS Sinnoh Adventures- Chpt 1Chapter 1- Slight Understanding.
"Kotone, wake up. You're going to be late if you don't get up soon!" A voice echoed through the house up to Kotone's room, where she suddenly jumped out of bed, and looked right at the clock, "Oh no! I need to leave in a half hour! How did I oversleep? My alarm was set to go off an hour ago." Kotone got out of bed in a rush, but as soon as she started to run out of her room and down the stairs, she started to get a weird feeling. No, not today... whatever. I need to get moving!!! "Good morning mom!" Kotone shouted as she sat down at the table, and noticed the home cooked breakfast of eggs, toast, and sausage. "I'm going to miss you while you're in the Sinnoh region Kotone. Make sure to call me once in a while and let me know how you're doing." Kotone's mother said in a calm supportive voice. "Don't worry mom, I will..."
"Oh, I almost forgot, I got you a going away gift, this is a popular item in the Sinnoh region, and I'm sure it will help you wh
Suggestion: Groups and NewsSince groups was released, the way that deviants interact with each other has changed a lot, and mostly for the better. We can efficiently communicate through blogs, and everything is much better organized.
However, there is one thing that I have noticed. Since I am a deviant that runs news article features through groups, there are only a couple of ways to let the deviants know about the feature. One option is to write a blog informing them of the news article that was posted, and hope that the deviants open the blog and then click on the link. If you are informing the deviant that they have been featured in an article, then you can send them a comment or reply. I have noticed that since groups have launched, that there is not a way to send news articles through the groups.
My suggestion, would be to edit the news submission page, have it be more customized to each deviant. If a deviant is submitting a news article that focuses one group's news, then there should be an option to submi
Guide to Criticism
So, this may just be me, however when I have works set for "Critique Requested," I tend to get comments on the deviations, and they are usually harsh in a sense. I understand that I am not that good of an artist, and my work is full of flaws. However, some of the comments I have received towards one of my latest pieces shocked me. In a way, they came off to me as rude. However, I stepped back, took a deep breath and tried to look at it from a helpful point of view, which worked.
However, for some deviants who are impulsive and were to read these comments as insults towards their work, the ending result may very well be different. An example would be "omg! How dare you hate on my art! I worked so hard and long on it!" Now, we ALL know that this will end up creating dArama. It always has, and probably always will. The worst is when a deviant does not even request critique and receives it.
So, how do we improve this critique/criticism system? There is no one huge fix for this, because the
SS Sinnoh Adventures- Prologue"Hey Kotone, what's your most memorable moment as a Pokemon trainer?" Silver asked his happy go lucky rival, in an attempt to break an awkward silence that was in Kotone's room back at New Bark Town.
"Huh? Oh... let's see." Kotone thought back through all of her adventures through the Johto and Kanto region, looking back on many events. Suddenly, her expression went from one of pondering to one of a happy nostalgia. "For me, it was probably when Bayleef first evolved into Meganium. She was the most beautiful and majestic Pokemon that I have ever seen."
Silver looked away with a half disgusted look on his face. "Really? That's so girly..." He readjusted himself, sitting in a more comfortable position in Kotone's room, though not much could hide the fact that he was nervous.
"Oh, what is your most memorable moment then, Silver?" Kotone replied slightly annoyed that Silver was poking fun at her. Sure, she was an easy target to poke fun at, but he didn't have to do so.
With a smug look on
