Manga/Anime Digital Gallery FeatureWelcome to Digital Manga/Anime! This is an article that will be highlighting each section of the digital art subcategory within Manga/Anime with a little about each category and then some wonderful features for you to enjoy!
Firstly, what is “digital art”? It is artwork created via the use of digital media such as on a computer with a tablet or mouse. There are 6 digital art subcategories within the Manga/Anime gallery:
Digital M/A: DrawingsDigital M/A: PaintingsDigital M/A: OekakiDigital M/A: Manga Digital M/A: Vector Digital M/A: 3D
Manga/Anime > Digital Media > Drawings
So, what is the ‘Drawings’ category all about? Digital drawings are, basically, drawings that have been done with digital media (i.e., on a computer). The variety within the category is huge, simply because there are so many ways to draw and/or colour digitally and it is the most popular of the

Manga/Anime Project Educate Closing Ceremonies Why hello everyone! So today is Saturday, and that means another week is done for Project Educate. kit-y, MzzAzn and I had a wonderful time getting everything ready for you and executing the week. I hope that everyone enjoyed the week and took something away from it. We had interviews with all sorts of different Manga/Anime artists, news features with the different sub categories, a trivia night, and even a featured chat!
This past week was crazy busy, and I felt like I really needed to stop and catch my breath for it bit, but overall it was a ton of fun. Its been an honor to host Manga/Anime's Project Educate week!
So a Recap of this week;

Manga/Anime Spotlight: touchedvenusManga/Anime Spotlight: TouchedVenus
Manga/Anime Spotlight is a weekly feature that highlights the different artists across the deviantART's Manga/Anime community, and is a portal to get to know a bit more about them and their works.
This week's feature is TouchedVenus
1.) To start off, what is your favorite medium and tools to use?
My favorite medium has definitely become digital over the years. I love all the different tricks and textures to create so many different effects. You can even mimic traditional art, which is pretty amazing when done right. As for tools I love, definitely my Intuos 3 Wacom Tablet. I had my fair share of doing art with a mouse and this little contraption has made a world of a difference. My first tablet was a Graphire and I've been addicted to them ever since. I also do most of sketching and coloring in Photoshop CS5, but I've recently started doing my line work and clean up in SAI. The vector t

The other week, a piece of my writing was selected for a Daily Literature Deviation. If you're curious you can see the article here. I was humbled by that, but my reason for mentioning it in Photography Bi-weekly is that 0hgravity then highlighted a website to me that I found absolutely fascinating. It's soul purpose is to highlight Endangered Languages through Photography. 3170 lens are capturing the people who hold the key to the worlds most secret languages. Once again something like this highlights the complete and utter importance of Photography and reminds us of how far we've come, and how much we can do from mobile ph

Why you feature stolen work?!?!Lately there seem to have been a few myths flying around in particular with regards to how we as Community Volunteers, give Daily Deviations. Many people seem to think that we sit at our desks in dark little rooms and let out evil laughter whilst we purposefully feature stolen work. The dark rooms and laughter - well I can't say yes or no on that one! But I can promise you it's not our intent to give exposure to people who have stolen work. I recently featured a piece of work that turned out to be stolen. However I went into extensive conversations with the artist before I featured it, and with added metadata and dates, it's difficult to know where to draw the line. I've given people the benefit of the doubt before - and it's worked out nicely as their work has been legitimate. Below are some comments I have seen being thrown around the past few days - and hopefully an attempt to bust the myth.
"I thought at least that you people would check to make sure the work was the

Photography Troubleshooting: LandscapesI first started out with landscape Photography and it's something that I particularly enjoy now whether that's rolling hills, rolling clouds, or a bit of both on a stormy day. Photographing landscapes can not only highlight the natural terrain of the earth, but also what's going on in the sky and the weather effects of the day. KayHulbert asked for some Landscape pointers - so here are some handy tips on how to achieve great landscape shots:
1) Use a Tripod
There are times when you just won't have the time. But equally if you've got a fantastic scene in front of you and you have a moment or two to set things up, then please do. You'll honestly be more pleased with your results. Where you may have a landscape that involves a bit of water, you might need a longer shutter speed. The tripod will help stabilise you. Consider also using a shutter release to help you as well. For a bit more information on tripods and when and where to use them
Celebrating Diversity #12This edition of Celebrating Diversity I want to focus on two extremes of art: Extremely detailed and realistic works and minimal and abstract art. Both tendencies or trends have their place and time in art and history and are appreciated by many people. Not always does one person like both, but to me personally, art has always been more about feeling, than about complexity. Something simple can touch me emotionally as well as something blasting with details. Art is just as individual as every human being!
How do you feel about these tw

Teenage TaoismGiving birth is the closest I’d ever felt to dying.
Before that, my near death experiences had consisted only of my silent announcement of pregnancy—silent, being that my social media accounts were all deleted almost simultaneously and I never returned to school in the fall, saying without really saying that I had caught the malicious disease of “teenage pregnancy”. I’m sure the whisper spread in the hallways like the Bubonic Plague. That September, sitting at home on what would have been the first day of my senior year, I imagined friends I’d never talk to again saying “she was only seventeen, and so full of life!” at my absence in the cafeteria tables, as if they were attending my funeral instead of talking about me behind my back.
"Full of life," I had snorted then, folding a never ending stream of what had once been my own baby clothes. "Literally."
I walked around like a zombie for the months of my pregnancy, deciding t
