:star:Manga/Anime Spotlight: hachiyuki:star:

Manga/Anime Spotlight is a weekly feature that highlights the different artists across the deviantART's Manga/Anime community, and is a portal to get to know a bit more about them and their works.

This week's feature is hachiyuki

:bulletgreen:1.) To start off, what is your favorite medium and tools to use?

My favourite medium is definatly traditional, both to look at and to use.
But the medium I use is mostly digital and for the tools I use Paint Tool Sai, Wacom Bamboo tablet and a bit of Photoshop.

:bulletgreen:2.) When you draw, do you plan everything out first, or do you just see where the drawing takes you?

-I usually start out with a general idea that I then develop while I draw.

:bulletgreen:3.) On average, how long do you spend on a drawing?

-minimum about 5 hours, and at most probably up about 30 hours or so.

:bulletgreen:4.) When did you first start drawing, and what made you start to draw in the manga/anime style?

-I can't remember my exact age, but I think I started drawing anime seriously around the age of 14. I started drawing anime because I felt the style I was drawing in at the time limited me too much. Anime is a great style for character design and concept art.

:bulletgreen:5.) What are your inspirations for drawing?

-Impulses mostly, often from music or other art.

:bulletgreen:6.) Do you have any artists that you look up to?

There are too many to mention haha.
-:iconneokale: is a much underappriciated artist in my opinion, I've taken a lot of inspiration from her work and I wish to someday come up with a style of my own that has the same kind of surreal and nostalgic tone to it.
-:iconyuumei: she has stuck around for so long and has never failed to deliver stunning pieces. Her work also always seem to have some sort of deeper meaning and message.

:bulletgreen:7.) Out of the works in your gallery, what are your five favorite pieces?

Tasteless is the new tasty by hachiyuki jellyfish night by hachiyuki melancholy fish dream by hachiyuki bathtub fish by hachiyuki wolfs hat by hachiyuki

:bulletgreen:8.) Do you have any tips for young aspiring artists?

-Whatever medium you use, learn how to use it properly and all the possibilities it has.

:bulletgreen:9.) Are there any other types of art that enjoy?

-Haikus that aren't season themed. Also pixel art, full art pieces done in pixel style.

:bulletgreen:10.) Is there anything else that you would like to add?

Drink loads of water, always. c:
