Manga/Anime Spotlight: Jyinxe
Manga/Anime Spotlight is a weekly feature that highlights the different artists across the deviantART's Manga/Anime community, and is a portal to get to know a bit more about them and their works.
This week's feature is Jyinxe
1.) To start off, what is your favorite medium and tools to use?
My favourite medium is traditional art, but I would love to learn to colour on the computer properly one day (I'm not a very patient person). I tend to use Prisma colour pencil crayons the most to colour, trading them out once in a while for Crayola. I use Staedtler pigment liners for my lineart (usually .1 or .3) and gelly roll pens for shine.
2.) When you draw, do you plan everything out first, or do you just see where the drawing takes you?
I try to plan everything out before hand because I like to have an idea of what I'm doing. The picture doesn't always end up the way I planned – but it helps me figure out what I'm doing.
3.) On average, how long do you spend on a drawing?
Usually it takes me about a half hour to sketch out my pieces – another hour to line – and 2 – 3 hours to colour – unless the piece has a full background – so roughly 5 hours?
4.) When did you first start drawing, and what made you start to draw in the manga/anime style?
I have been drawing since I was a little girl – and I fell in love with the style the first time I watched Sailor Moon (I was four when it came on TV at my grandfather's house) and I decided that the beautiful style was what I wanted to draw
5.) What are your inspirations for drawing?
I am inspired by a lot of music – I have a wide range to listen to – my iPod is filled with anything from Rap, heavy metal and pop to classical. I am also influenced by the people I know, the TV I watch:
6.) Do you have any artists that you look up to?
I definitely look up to my aunt (not a famous painter but she's got an art degree), I love the pictures by Tukiji Nao – who's detailed work has always made me want to be more patient with what I do – and Lady Gaga – because she's a wonderful inspiration for anyone who dares to be different.
7.) Out of the works in your gallery, what are your five favorite pieces?
First Place: Leaves
, .Pokerface.
,Gif: Ximera
, Gift: Kit
, and .:Eternal Sailor Moon:.
Mature Content
8.) Do you have any tips for young aspiring artists?
I know this is said so very often, but it can't be stressed enough – Practice! I have been drawing since I was a little girl – and I still need to work on a lot of things. Don't expect that you'll be perfect the first time – but don't give up because you'll get there Be patient – it's worth it!
9.) Are there any other types of art that enjoy?
I love realism. If I was patient enough for it I would take it up. I also love watercolour paintings – and still life photography
10.) Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Thanks for the interview!
